Dear Corewell,
Since I started caring for patients at Corewell, the quality of healthcare services in our community has declined from barely passable to abhorrent. What you call “healthcare” is no longer recognizable as anything I learned in medical school or residency. It is blood-sucking bureaucrats telling doctors how to practice medicine. It is men in suits and a malpractice insurance company with your name that exists as an empty promise in a Carribean P.O. Box. You are living proof that justice does not exist in the United States, and that the legal system is a farce.
Due to policies that are incompatible with patient safety and well-being, I am no longer able to admit patients to your hospital. Time to put your own balls on the line, if you have any. I’ve done that long enough, and I’m tired.
Go back to Grand Rapids or wherever the hell you came from, and give us back our hospitals.
I will always be grateful to the extraordinary physicians, nurses, and mentors that I had the opportunity to work with and learn from over the years. You inspire me.
Sincerely,
Omar Nabil Metwally, M.D.
Internal Medicine Physician and Healthcare Litigator
